Bramblecrush hits any noncreature permanent — planeswalkers, lands, enchantments, artifacts — at sorcery speed for four mana, which is the whole story. It's reliable catch-all removal in green, but four mana at sorcery speed is a real cost that more efficient options have largely pushed it to the margins.

Commander is where Bramblecrush sees essentially all of its play, and even there it's a role-player rather than a staple — the ability to hit any noncreature permanent matters in a format full of problematic enchantments, planeswalkers, and the occasional land worth destroying. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's unplayable; those formats demand two-mana interaction at instant speed, and Bramblecrush offers neither. Oathbreaker is theoretically legal but the same logic applies — the format is too fast for a four-mana sorcery with no upside beyond its target breadth.
