Brackish Blunder bounces a creature and replaces itself with a card draw — reasonable enough on paper, but three mana at sorcery speed for a tempo play that doesn't permanently answer anything is too slow for most Commander tables. Run it only if your deck specifically rewards putting creatures back in hand, otherwise cut it for hard removal.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Brackish Blunder sits in the bottom tier of interaction — the format moves too fast and threats are too sticky for a sorcery-speed bounce that doesn't exile or destroy. Pauper is the one format where Brackish Blunder gets a real look, since the card pool thins out and cantripping bounce at common can legitimately tempo out opponents in slower blue control shells. In Pioneer, Modern, and Legacy, it has no competitive footprint; faster, harder answers crowd it out at every slot. Standard and Pioneer aggro-control lists occasionally want this effect, but even there the sorcery speed is a dealbreaker compared to instant-speed alternatives.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Brackish Blunder is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not the card itself. The price reflects its power level accurately and is unlikely to move unless a future commander creates a bounce-matters niche around it.
