Bottomless Vault card art
Bottomless Vault produces arbitrarily large bursts of black mana — but only after you've spent multiple turns doing nothing with it, making it one of the slowest mana accelerants in the format. The payoff is real in dedicated big-mana shells; everywhere else, the setup cost is prohibitive.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Bottomless Vault occupies a narrow niche: mono-black decks that can identify a future power turn and start banking mana two or three turns in advance. The card is legal in Legacy and Vintage as well, but competitive lists in those formats have no interest in a land that produces zero mana on the turn it enters — fast mana like Ancient Tomb and Mox Diamond renders it irrelevant. Oathbreaker is the one fringe case where a focused mono-black build might squeeze value out of it, but the two-player speed of that format punishes slow setups even harder. Bottom line: Bottomless Vault is a Commander-only card in practice, and even there it earns a slot only if your deck is explicitly built around a single explosive turn.

Price Context

Current price

$1.85 cheap tier

At $1.85, Bottomless Vault sits in impulse-buy territory — cheap enough that the financial risk of trying it is negligible. Its price reflects its narrow application accurately; don't expect movement in either direction given how few decks can use it well.
