Bosh, Iron Golem card art
Bosh, Iron Golem turns any artifact on the board into a flung projectile — pay its power in red mana, deal that much damage to any target, repeat as the board demands. Eight mana for a 6/7 trampler is a real cost, but in artifact-heavy red shells, particularly Daretti, Scrap Savant lists that already recur and reload artifacts, Bosh earns that slot by converting excess permanents directly into lethal damage.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Daretti, Scrap Savant

Daretti, Scrap Savant

38.2% of decks · synergy 0.37

Daretti, Scrap Savant's discard-and-recur loop keeps artifacts cycling in and out of the graveyard, and Bosh, Iron Golem turns each artifact waiting to be sacrificed or recurred into a damage source before it leaves the battlefield — it's the highest-synergy fit in the game for exactly that reason.

02
Chiss-Goria, Forge Tyrant

Chiss-Goria, Forge Tyrant

21.1% of decks · synergy 0.20

Chiss-Goria, Forge Tyrant cheats artifacts into play for free, and Bosh, Iron Golem gives those free artifacts a second use as direct-damage missiles once they've served their purpose on board.

03
Saheeli, the Gifted

Saheeli, the Gifted

15.6% of decks · synergy 0.15

Saheeli, the Gifted reduces the cost of casting artifacts and generates artifact tokens, both of which feed Bosh, Iron Golem's activated ability with raw material to fling at opponents.

Format Analysis

oathbreaker

Commander is where Bosh, Iron Golem lives — both as a 99-card inclusion in artifact-heavy red decks and as a mono-red commander in its own right, where the fling ability serves as a repeatable, mana-hungry win condition. In Legacy and Vintage, eight mana is simply too much for what is effectively a situational Fling stapled to a body; those formats don't give Bosh, Iron Golem the time or the artifact density to matter. Oathbreaker is legal but faces the same speed problem — the format's compact game length rarely reaches the critical mass of artifacts and mana that makes Bosh threatening.

Price Context

Current price

$0.26 bulk tier

At $0.26, Bosh, Iron Golem is deep bulk — you can pick up copies without a second thought. Bulk rares with narrow appeal tend to stay in this range, so there's no reason to stockpile, but there's also no reason to hesitate if you need one.
