Boonweaver Giant is a Commander card through and through — the format's singleton structure and slower pace let you build around its enter-the-battlefield tutor in a way that 60-card formats never reward. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's simply too slow; seven mana for a 4/4 with no immediate board protection is a non-starter against interactive decks that can answer it before the Aura resolves. Commander is where the Giant earns its slot: graveyard-loop combos, sacrifice outlets, and reanimation all live naturally in the format, and the Giant is the engine that ties them together.
