Bonebreaker Giant

In Commander, Bonebreaker Giant competes for a slot in red decks that want both a creature and an etb damage effect, but five mana for a 4/3 and 2 damage is well below the bar when cards like Flametongue Kavu do the same job for one less mana on a more resilient frame. Pauper is the one format where commons see real play and budget constraints are structural, but even there the rate is soft — five mana is a lot to spend when the format's threats demand faster answers. In Legacy and Vintage, Bonebreaker Giant is simply not a consideration; the power ceiling in those formats makes this card invisible. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's calculus: fine concept, poor execution on rate.
