Bone Picker is a 3/2 flier with deathtouch that routinely costs a single black mana — that's the whole argument. In any black deck that trades creatures or runs sacrifice outlets, it's a four-mana card in name only.

In Commander, Bone Picker earns its slot in any black deck built around sacrifice, recursion, or combat — Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver and Prossh, Skyraider of Kher both trigger it effortlessly, and a 3/2 deathtouch flier for one mana is a real threat, not a token. Pauper is where Bone Picker has seen the most competitive scrutiny, slotting into Mono-Black Control and Dimir Faeries as a cheap, evasive threat that punishes removal-heavy games where creatures die constantly. In Legacy and Vintage it's outclassed by faster threats and better payoffs, but it's never embarrassing if you're building a janky sacrifice shell. Modern and Pioneer have enough cheap creatures dying that the discount triggers reliably, though dedicated archetypes rarely need it over more powerful options at that mana value.

Price Context
Current price
$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Bone Picker is deep bulk — you can acquire a playset for under a dollar without blinking. The price is stable; this isn't a card waiting to spike, but it's also not going lower, so there's no reason to wait if you need copies.
