Bone Dancer steals creatures from graveyards every time it gets through — a repeatable reanimation trigger stapled to a 2/3 body for three mana. The catch is that it only triggers on unblocked damage and targets the top creature of a defending player's graveyard, so it rewards attack-heavy strategies rather than control shells.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Bone Dancer actually earns a slot — multiplayer tables mean multiple graveyards full of targets, and reanimating an opponent's Titan or dragon for free is the kind of value that compounds fast. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but unplayed; three mana for a fragile trigger that requires combat damage is nowhere near the power threshold those formats demand. Oathbreaker is the one other format worth mentioning, where the lower starting life totals and creature-heavy metas can make Bone Dancer's graveyard stealing genuinely disruptive. Outside of Commander and niche Oathbreaker builds, this card doesn't have a home.

Price Context
Current price
$3.04 cheap tier
At $3.04, Bone Dancer sits in the budget-rare tier — cheap enough to slot in without a second thought if the archetype fits. It's a Reserved List card with a narrow audience, so the price is stable rather than poised to spike.
