Bog Down strips two cards from each opponent's hand at sorcery speed — three opponents means six cards gone for three mana, or two mana with a basic-land kicker. Outside of dedicated discard strategies, the one-for-many math doesn't hold up in Commander because players refill too quickly for hand disruption to close games.

In Commander, Bog Down is a niche piece — it belongs in dedicated discard shells like Tinybones, Trinket Thief or The Rack strategies where depleting hands is the actual win condition, not a speed bump. In Pauper, where card pools are tighter and hand size matters more, it sees occasional play in black control and discard synergy builds. Legacy and Vintage have access to Hymn to Tourach and Thoughtseize, which hit harder and faster; Bog Down doesn't compete at those tables. The kicker mode makes it marginally more efficient at two mana, but even then it's asking you to spend a land drop on a sorcery-speed effect.

Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Bog Down is deep bulk — the floor of Magic singles pricing. That price reflects its narrow competitive applications, and there's no realistic pressure to push it higher.
