Blossoming Calm card art
Blossoming Calm gives you and your permanents hexproof until your next turn for one white mana — and if you cast it a second time, that protection extends to all spells you cast as well. At one mana, it's the cheapest reactive shield in white, but its ceiling depends entirely on whether you can recur or copy it.

In Commander, Blossoming Calm is a niche but reliable piece of protection for voltron and enchantress strategies that need to push a single threat through a table of interaction. Legacy and Vintage have access to better protection suites and faster clocks, so Blossoming Calm doesn't see competitive play there — the formats simply move too fast for a one-turn shield to matter. Modern is where it has the most theoretical traction outside Commander, particularly in white-based creature combo decks that need a cheap way to dodge removal on a critical turn. Pioneer and Standard legality is off the table entirely, and pauper is similarly closed. In Oathbreaker, where protecting your planeswalker from a targeted removal pile is a constant concern, Blossoming Calm punches above its weight.

Price Context

Current price

$0.19 bulk tier

At $0.19, Blossoming Calm is firmly bulk — you're not paying a premium for anything here. That price is stable; there's no spike catalyst on the horizon for a narrow protection spell, so pick it up as a cheap include and don't expect movement in either direction.
