Blood Price draws cards equal to the number of creatures you control, paid for with life — straightforward black draw that scales directly with board width. It's a one-shot burst, not an engine, so it earns its slot only when you can reliably flood the battlefield before casting it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Blood Price is a Commander card through and through — the format's higher life totals make the life payment trivial, and token-generating commanders can easily draw four to seven cards off a single cast. In Pauper it's a legal common, but black draw at common has better competition and token density rarely climbs high enough to justify five mana. Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, and Vintage are non-starters: the card is too slow and too conditional for formats where the game is often decided before turn five.

$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Blood Price is deep bulk — you're picking this out of a dollar box, not tracking it down. Bulk commons with narrow Commander applications don't appreciate, so buy exactly as many copies as you need and expect nothing back.
