Blood Aspirant card art
Blood Aspirant is a two-mana 1/1 that snowballs fast — every time you sacrifice a permanent, it gets a +1/+1 counter and pings a creature or planeswalker for 1, turning your sacrifice fodder into real board pressure. Pair it with Animation Module and the engine becomes self-sustaining: counters trigger Servos, Servos feed sacrifices, repeat.

Commander is where Blood Aspirant earns its slot — sacrifice synergies run deep in the format, and any deck built around Aristocrats, token generation, or modular counters will find it pulling double duty as a win condition and a removal-on-a-stick. In Pauper it's a legitimate threat; the format's common-legal sacrifice engines are plentiful enough to keep it busy, and the 1-damage ping is meaningful when the whole format plays small. Modern and Pioneer have the card pool to support it but also have far more efficient payoffs, so it sits at the fringe of those formats rather than the center. Legacy and Vintage won't touch it — the power floor is just too high.

Price Context

Current price

$0.20 bulk tier

At $0.20, Blood Aspirant is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar box, not tracking it on a buylist. Bulk rares with combo potential occasionally tick up when a supporting piece gets printed, but at this price the question isn't whether to buy one, it's whether you already own one.
