Black Hole wipes the board of smaller threats and deals damage scaled to its cost — a sweeper and a burn spell stapled together. The Most Dangerous Gamer makes it a free spell off the venture trigger, turning what would be a five-plus mana investment into a no-cost blowout.

The Most Dangerous Gamer
The Most Dangerous Gamer can cast Black Hole for free when you venture into the dungeon, and the damage-plus-wipe effect maps perfectly onto clearing blockers while pressuring life totals in the same action.

Black Hole is a Commander card through and through — the scaling X cost and incidental life loss pay off most when games go long and boards get wide. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but competes with a removal suite that operates at a far lower mana investment, so it rarely makes the cut outside of casual or experimental builds. Commander is where the card actually does its job: X sweepers that also dome opponents are exactly what slower, multiplayer games reward, and the venture synergy with The Most Dangerous Gamer pushes Black Hole into near-auto-include territory for that commander. Oathbreaker is the one other format worth mentioning, where high-impact sorceries can define a game, though the card sees little play there.

Pricing data for Black Hole isn't currently available, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the current market rate before picking up copies. Given its near-universal inclusion in The Most Dangerous Gamer decks, demand is real and supply is limited to a single printing — expect it to carry a modest premium over bulk.
