Bite Down on Crime card art
Bite Down on Crime gives a creature you control a fight or investigate at instant speed — removal stapled to a clue token for the cost of caring about your board state. At three mana with no other restrictions, it's a clean two-for-one in any green deck that wants to stay reactive.

In Commander, Bite Down on Crime earns a slot in any green deck that runs enough creatures to reliably win the fight — it answers a problem permanent and replaces itself with a clue, which is exactly what green wants from three-mana interaction. In 1v1 formats like Modern and Pioneer, the sorcery-speed restriction on most fight spells makes instant-speed matter more, but three mana is slow competition against efficient spot removal, so it sees little competitive play there. Pauper is where Bite Down on Crime is most at home outside Commander — green creature decks love the flexibility, and the investigate clause generates real card advantage at common rarity.
