Biomantic Mastery draws cards equal to the total number of creatures two target players control — at eight mana, that ceiling is enormous, but the floor is humiliating if boards are thin. It's a glass-cannon draw spell: exceptional in creature-heavy pods, dead weight against control.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Biomantic Mastery is a Commander card through and through — the multiplayer table is the entire premise, since drawing off two players' boards is where the card becomes a one-sided Overflowing Insight. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; eight mana is a game-loss in those formats and better options exist at every point on the curve. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card exception worth noting, where creature-heavy pods can still make it functional, though the two-player default shrinks the ceiling fast. Stick to Commander.

Price Context
Current price
$0.43 bulk tier
At $0.43, Biomantic Mastery is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. Bulk rare draw spells rarely climb unless a new commander breaks them wide open, so don't expect appreciation, but there's essentially no financial risk to picking up a copy.
