Billowing Shriekmass card art
Billowing Shriekmass enters as a 4/4 with ward 2 and a enters-the-battlefield trigger that makes opponents discard a card — relevant pressure at six mana, but six mana is a lot to ask for a vanilla-sized body with a one-shot discard stapled on. It's a role-player in dedicated discard shells, not a generalist include.

In Commander, Billowing Shriekmass slots into discard-matters decks — Tinybones, Trinket Thief or Nekusar, the Mindrazer builds that want every opponent hellbent as fast as possible — where the three-player discard trigger at ETB starts to look like real value. Outside that niche, six mana competes with game-ending threats and loses. In 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, discard is cheap and proactive; a six-mana creature that forces one card from each opponent on entry can't compete with Thoughtseize and Grief operating at one mana. Standard is the only 60-card format where Billowing Shriekmass might find a brief window if aggressive discard payoffs are legal simultaneously, but the ceiling is still a fringe-synergy card.

Price Context

Current price

$0.07 bulk tier

At $0.07, Billowing Shriekmass is deep bulk — the price of a card the market considers interchangeable filler. That price is stable in the sense that it can't fall much further, but there's no meaningful catalyst to push it upward unless a discard-themed Commander precon puts it on the map.
