Belonging card art
Belonging puts a token copy of a creature onto the battlefield and attaches an Equipment to it — immediate board presence plus a payoff, all in one card. The ceiling is high in reanimator and sacrifice loops, especially alongside Nim Deathmantle, and Ashling, the Limitless decks run it at over 50% inclusion for good reason.

Ashling, the Limitless scales on creature types, so every token Belonging generates can enter as a copy of a creature already wearing multiple types — each one stacking Ashling's counters and triggering her draw and damage effects before the token is sacrificed to fuel the next loop.

Belonging is a Commander card through and through — the token-plus-Equipment stapling is too slow and too dependent on a board state to compete in Legacy or Vintage, where it's technically legal but essentially absent. In Commander, the three-mana cost is fair for the two-in-one effect, and the format's longer games give you time to build the engine Belonging wants to be part of. Oathbreaker is the only other format worth mentioning, where faster clocks make it a tighter fit but the combo potential is still there for the right signature spell shell.

Price Context

Current price

$0.63 bulk tier

At $0.63, Belonging is bulk — easy to pick up without a second thought. Given its 50%+ inclusion rate in the most popular deck that wants it, the price reflects supply more than demand, and it's unlikely to spike unless a new Ashling-style commander pushes the archetype further into the mainstream.
