Beckoning Will-o'-Wisp enters the battlefield and immediately replaces itself by drawing a card, and the Ward 1 stapled on top makes it obnoxious to remove on the cheap. The cost — one blue mana for a 1/1 flyer with no offensive upside — is real, but the raw card parity plus evasion body makes it a clean include in any deck that wants to tax opponents while staying ahead on resources.

In a 100-card singleton format where card advantage is precious and opponents need to respect every piece of interaction, a one-mana cantrip with a Ward 1 speed bump is quietly efficient — it replaces itself the turn it comes down and forces opponents to overpay or look elsewhere. Legacy and Vintage have cantrips so much more powerful that Beckoning Will-o'-Wisp never sees those tables. In Oathbreaker the logic mirrors Commander: cheap, self-replacing, and annoying to kill.
