Bearer of Silence hits the battlefield as a 2/1 flyer that forces an opponent to sacrifice a creature — the removal is baked into the cast trigger, not an ETB, so it can't be stopped by giving the creature hexproof after the fact. The colorless Eldrazi cost makes it a genuine two-mana threat in any black deck that can pay the (C) requirement.

In Commander, Bearer of Silence punches above its mana cost — forced sacrifice ignores indestructible and hexproof, which matter constantly in a format full of Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Sigarda, Host of Herons effects. The flying body is largely irrelevant at four players, but the edict stapled to a two-drop is worth running in any black sacrifice or Eldrazi shell. In Modern and Legacy it competes with Dismember and Grief for the role of black disruption that sidesteps regeneration and protection, and the colorless pip narrows it to decks already invested in Eldrazi payoffs. Pioneer has fewer competing options at this slot, so Bearer of Silence sees occasional play in Eldrazi Ramp lists there.

Price Context
Current price
$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Bearer of Silence is deep bulk — the price reflects low demand rather than low power. It's unlikely to spike without a breakout constructed showing, but as a Commander pickup it's essentially free.
