Beamsplitter Mage copies any targeted instant or sorcery you cast onto each other creature you control that shares its color — in the right deck, one pump spell becomes a full-board buff. The cost is narrow dependency: Beamsplitter Mage does nothing without a critical mass of blue-red creatures and spells that target your own stuff.

Commander is where Beamsplitter Mage earns its slot — Izzet spellslinger decks can reliably fill a board with blue-red creatures, and the payoff of copying a single pump or cantrip across five targets is immediately game-warping. In Modern and Pioneer it's technically legal but rarely sees play, since those formats lack the go-wide blue-red creature density needed to make Beamsplitter Mage worth a two-mana investment over more direct spell-doubling options. Legacy and Vintage offer no better a home; the effect doesn't slot into any established archetype and the competition for two-drop slots is steep. Outside of Commander, treat Beamsplitter Mage as a casual build-around rather than a competitive include.

Price Context
Current price
$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Beamsplitter Mage is deep bulk — pick up as many copies as you need without a second thought. Don't expect that to change; it's a narrow build-around with no competitive demand, so the price floor is where it lives.
