Battleground Geist pumps your entire Spirit squad the moment it lands, turning a board of 1/1s and 2/2s into a genuine attack threat without any additional setup. Five mana for a 3/3 flier with a static lord effect is a reasonable rate, and in a dedicated Spirit shell there's no reason not to run it.

Commander is where Battleground Geist earns its slot — Spirit tribal has enough critical mass there that a fifth-turn lord with evasion can flip a stalled game. In Pauper it's legal but competes against cheaper commons for curve slots, and Spirit tribal isn't a supported archetype at that power level.
