Battlefield Medic prevents damage to your creatures once per turn for the low cost of tapping itself — on a 1/1 body for two mana that does nothing else. Fringe lifegain and protection synergies aside, it doesn't make the cut in competitive lists.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Battlefield Medic is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but its ceiling is Pauper, where the common restriction occasionally opens space for narrow defensive utility. In Commander, a 1/1 that taps to prevent damage once per turn competes against removal spells, counterspells, and draw — and loses badly. Legacy and Vintage offer nothing that makes Battlefield Medic relevant. It's a bulk common that sees play almost nowhere.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Battlefield Medic sits firmly in bulk territory, and there's no pressure driving that price up. Pick it up if a specific lifegain or damage-prevention build calls for it, but don't expect the price to move.
