Battle-Rattle Shaman card art
Battle-Rattle Shaman gives one creature +2/+0 and haste at the start of each combat — every combat, not just yours — which is a real sustained threat multiplier on a four-mana body. The cost is that four mana and a 2/2 frame make it a removal magnet that does nothing the turn it enters.

In Commander, Battle-Rattle Shaman earns its slot only in dedicated go-wide aggressive decks — specifically red Goblin or token strategies where haste on a key attacker each turn closes games that would otherwise stall. In Pauper, it's too slow at four mana in a format where tempo is everything and better haste enablers exist at common. Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy have no interest in a vanilla 2/2 with an upkeep-gated ability when those formats offer far more efficient combat tricks. Standard is the only non-Commander 60-card environment where Battle-Rattle Shaman could see fringe play in a dedicated aggro shell, but even there the power level rarely justifies the slot.

Price Context

Current price

$0.17 bulk tier

At $0.17, Battle-Rattle Shaman is pure bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar bin or grabbing a playset for less than a pack of gum. Bulk commons and uncommons at this price point don't move unless a new commander drives sudden demand, so don't expect appreciation; just grab it if you need it.
