Barreling Attack gives a creature trample and +2/+2 until end of turn — solid on its own — but the real text is the second paragraph: if that creature deals combat damage to a player, you untap it and it gets an additional attack phase. The card costs three mana at instant speed, and that double-strike-adjacent recursion is worth every bit of it in the right shell.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Barreling Attack is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, and Commander is where it actually wants to live. In EDH, one big creature connecting twice in a turn — with trample to guarantee that damage — is the kind of tempo swing that closes games, and the instant speed means you can leave mana up and surprise opponents during combat. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but have no real interest; those formats end the game with faster, cleaner engines and won't touch a three-mana combat trick. Oathbreaker is the one other format worth mentioning: commanders there have lower starting loyalty targets, so a double-damage attack step can win on the spot.

$0.54 bulk tier
At $0.54, Barreling Attack sits squarely in bulk territory — cheap enough to throw in without hesitation. It won't creep up in price without a high-profile Commander reprint or a breakout deck putting it on camera, so pick up copies now if the effect fits your build.
