Banshee's Blade turns every combat hit into a permanent damage counter, and those counters stack until the equipped creature is lethal to anything it touches — no recasting, no reset. Two mana to equip on a commander that swings repeatedly and this becomes a clock that opponents can't ignore.

Commander is where Banshee's Blade belongs — commanders attack repeatedly across a long game, and the accumulating counters reward that repetition in a way no single-use pump spell can. Voltron strategies in particular treat it as a cheap, permanent damage multiplier that scales without any additional investment. In Legacy or Vintage it's a curio at best; the formats are too fast and too removal-heavy for a slow-building equipment to matter. Oathbreaker can support it in the same way Commander does, provided the planeswalker strategy involves consistent attacking.
