Banishing Slash exiles a creature or planeswalker outright, and if you attacked with a Samurai or Warrior this turn, it also makes a 2/2 token — two for the price of one at two mana. In any deck that attacks regularly, this is clean, efficient removal that pulls its weight beyond just answering a threat.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Raiyuu, Storm's Edge
Raiyuu, Storm's Edge attacks with a single Samurai or Warrior to untap and get an extra combat, which means the Banishing Slash token condition is trivially met every turn — you're exiling a problem permanent and building a board at the same time.

Isshin, Two Heavens as One
Isshin, Two Heavens as One cares about attack triggers, so the supporting cast is already full of Samurais and Warriors, and Banishing Slash slots in as removal that rewards what the deck is already doing rather than costing a tempo dip.

Commander is where Banishing Slash earns its keep — Samurai and Warrior tribal decks are common enough, and exile-based removal at two mana that can also generate a body is a real bargain in a format where bloated threats and indestructible commanders are everywhere. In Modern and Pioneer, it's legal but faces stiff competition from unconditional one-mana removal like Fatal Push, and the token rider requires too much deck-building commitment to justify outside of dedicated tribal builds. Legacy and Vintage have even less patience for conditional two-mana spells. Banishing Slash is a Commander card through and through.

Price Context
Current price
$0.29 bulk tier
At $0.29, Banishing Slash is bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in or from a bargain bin. Bulk rares in this role rarely spike unless a tribal archetype breaks out, so don't expect appreciation, but at this price you're not taking a risk either.
