Baloth Null enters the battlefield and immediately returns two creature cards from your graveyard to your hand — real card advantage stapled to a 4/5 body. Six mana is the honest cost, and in Commander that price is fair for what you get.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Baloth Null actually sees play — graveyard synergy is endemic to the format, games go long enough to cast a six-drop without apology, and returning two creatures to hand is a genuine two-for-one that pulls ahead in attrition wars. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's a non-starter: six mana for a vanilla-ish 4/5 with a value ETB is several turns too slow for those formats, and graveyard payoffs there demand cheaper, faster pieces. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's pace and singleton density that Baloth Null is at least castable, though still fringe.

Price Context
Current price
$0.13 bulk tier
At $0.13, Baloth Null is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and postage, not the card. That price is stable; there's no pressure driving it up, and it will remain a quarter-bin fixture indefinitely.
