Balduvian Fallen card art
Balduvian Fallen enters as a 4/4 or larger whenever you cast a snow spell, scaling its power and toughness with the number of snow mana spent — but that upside is locked inside a four-mana 1/1 body that does nothing on its own. Without a dedicated snow mana base and a deck built around it, Balduvian Fallen is a vanilla 1/1 for four, which is unplayable in any serious context.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict

oathbreaker

Balduvian Fallen is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but seeing play in none of them at any meaningful rate. In Commander, snow synergy decks exist — primarily helmed by Narfi, Betrayer King or similar cold-matters commanders — and Balduvian Fallen can slot in as a threat that punishes heavy snow mana investment, but it competes with more reliable payoffs and rarely makes the cut. In Legacy and Vintage, the card is simply too slow and too conditional; no competitive shell wants a four-mana 1/1 with a conditional upside when those formats end games on turns one through three. Modern's snow builds have never found Balduvian Fallen worth the slot either.

Price Context

Current price

$0.12 bulk tier

At $0.12, Balduvian Fallen is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box without spending a thought. That price reflects its near-zero demand, and there's no realistic scenario where it appreciates.
