Balduvian Atrocity lands as a 4/3 trampler with haste for three mana — that rate is real — but the black hybrid pip in the cost means it only belongs in decks that can actually pay it. Run it if you're in black or black-hybrid shells that want aggressive ground presence; skip it everywhere else.

In Commander, Balduvian Atrocity is a role-player in aggressive black or Rakdos shells that want cheap, hasty threats — three mana for a 4/3 trampler with haste is above-rate and applies immediate pressure. The hybrid black pip keeps it honest: mono-red decks can't cast it, and most dedicated red strategies won't want to stretch for it. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Legacy, Balduvian Atrocity competes in a field of far more efficient threats and never sees play. Pioneer is similarly hostile territory. Commander is the one format where the card finds a comfortable home, specifically in decks where the black pip is trivially paid.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Balduvian Atrocity is deep bulk — pick it up out of a common box or grab a playset for the price of a coffee. Demand is narrow enough that the price isn't going anywhere, so there's no urgency and no risk: it's a throw-in whenever the synergy is right.
