Bakersbane Duo card art
Bakersbane Duo puts two bodies on the board while generating Food tokens and drawing cards whenever you sacrifice artifacts — that's a lot of text for a single card slot. It's a staple in Muerra, Trash Tactician lists for good reason, and outside of that shell it still earns inclusion anywhere that sacrifices artifacts repeatedly.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Muerra, Trash Tactician

Muerra, Trash Tactician

70.9% of decks · synergy 0.70

Muerra, Trash Tactician wants to sacrifice Food and artifacts constantly, and Bakersbane Duo feeds that engine on both ends — making Food to sacrifice and drawing cards when you do, turning every loop into card advantage.

02
Camellia, the Seedmiser

Camellia, the Seedmiser

34.3% of decks · synergy 0.33

Camellia, the Seedmiser triggers off Food tokens entering play, so the Food production on Bakersbane Duo translates directly into additional Halfling creature tokens, giving the deck more fodder and more bodies from a single card.

In Commander, Bakersbane Duo is a role-player rather than a headliner — it belongs in artifact-sacrifice or Food-focused builds, where the card-draw rider compounds quickly over a long game. Outside of Commander, the effect is too slow and too conditional for competitive Constructed; Modern and Pioneer reward tighter synergy packages, and a three-mana setup piece that doesn't immediately change the board doesn't make the cut. Pauper is the one exception worth watching — Food synergies exist there, and the raw card advantage on a common is the kind of thing that accrues value in longer games.

Price Context

Current price

$0.08 bulk tier

At $0.08, Bakersbane Duo sits firmly in bulk territory — it costs less than a sleeve. Bulk commons with niche Commander homes don't tend to spike unless the synergy becomes publicly broken, so expect the price to stay flat unless a dominant Food or artifact-sacrifice commander emerges.
