Back on Track card art
Back on Track untaps two target permanents at instant speed — the functional payoff of a two-card combo piece on a single spell. Two mana for that effect is fair, and in any deck that wants to untap creatures or mana rocks mid-combo, it earns its slot.

Commander is where Back on Track has its clearest home — untapping two permanents at instant speed enables extra combat steps, reloads tap-to-win creatures like Dramatic Reversal targets, and doubles mana rock output mid-chain. In eternal formats like Legacy and Vintage it's too narrow; dedicated combo decks there have cheaper, more consistent options. Modern and Pioneer are similarly cool on it — the effect is real but the competition for two-mana instants is fierce and the payoff requires build-around support that those formats rarely sustain. Standard is the one context where Back on Track could see fringe play if the right tap-for-effect permanents are legal simultaneously.

$0.08 bulk tier

At $0.08, Back on Track is deep bulk — pick it up for free out of a common box or grab a playset for less than a coffee. Bulk rares with narrow build-around requirements rarely climb without a breakout Standard season or a Commander precon spotlight, so don't expect movement.
