Azorius Arrester enters the battlefield and immediately locks down one of your opponent's creatures until it leaves — a detain effect stapled to a 2/1 body for two mana. The rate is fine for Limited but nowhere near competitive enough for Constructed, where dedicated removal does the same job without leaving a 2/1 behind that they can kill to unfreeze their threat.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |

Azorius Arrester is a bulk common that sees meaningful play only in Pauper, where the detain trigger can tempo-swing a game in aggressive white-blue strategies. In Commander, a 2/1 that temporarily freezes one creature is simply too small and too fragile — the effect ends the moment Azorius Arrester dies, which happens immediately in a format full of incidental blockers and sweepers. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern all have access to unconditional removal and threat density that makes a conditional, reversible detain irrelevant at that power level. Pioneer is the same story.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Azorius Arrester is deep bulk — pick it up in a common lot or pull it from a box without a second thought. That price reflects the ceiling accurately; there is no realistic scenario where demand pushes this card meaningfully higher.
