Avizoa is a 7/4 flying trample for five mana — those numbers hit hard — but it blanks itself unless you skip your draw step every turn, a cost that bleeds you out of cards in a format where card advantage wins games. The upside is real, the tax is punishing, and there are cleaner threats at this slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Avizoa is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its resume is thin across all of them. In Commander, a 7/4 flying trampler would be fine rate, except surrendering your draw step each turn is a death sentence in a 100-card singleton format built around grinding out value — you will run out of gas long before opponents do. In Legacy and Vintage, the competition at five mana is brutal and no serious archetype wants to trade card draw for a beater with no enters-the-battlefield effect and no protection. Avizoa is effectively an obsolete design: the drawback was never worth the stats when it was printed, and power creep has only widened that gap.

Price Context
Current price
$0.53 bulk tier
At $0.53, Avizoa sits firmly in bulk territory, which is exactly where its playability puts it. Demand is low enough that the price is unlikely to move in either direction without a dedicated combo discovery that nobody has found in decades.
