Avalanche Riders blows up a land the turn it enters and attacks as a 2/2 with haste — all on a single four-mana body. The echo cost means you're usually sacrificing it on your next upkeep, but by then the land is already gone and the damage is done.

In Commander, Avalanche Riders is a niche inclusion — land destruction is politically fraught at most tables, and a one-shot land hit on a 2/2 body rarely swings a four-player game the way it might in 1v1. The card earns its slot in dedicated land destruction or land denial builds, and in reanimator shells where the echo cost is sidestepped by recurring it from the graveyard each turn. In Legacy and Vintage, Avalanche Riders is legal but sees virtually no play — four mana is too slow for formats that end games on turns one through three. Modern is the same story: there are faster, more permanent ways to address lands, and echo on a 2/2 body doesn't meet the bar.
