Autumnal Gloom // Ancient of the Equinox flips into a 7/5 trampler with hexproof and indestructible — one of the most resilient creature bodies available on a double-faced card. The cost is real: you need four enchantments and a land drop each upkeep, which demands serious deck-building commitment before the back half becomes reliable.

In Commander, Autumnal Gloom // Ancient of the Equinox fits narrowly into enchantress builds that already flood the board with enchantments — the four-enchantment threshold is trivial there, and an indestructible hexproof 7/5 with trample is a legitimate closer. Outside of that shell it's too slow and conditional for the format's speed. In Modern and Pioneer it's strictly outclassed — three mana for a 2/2 with upside that requires four enchantments and a land per upkeep turn is nowhere near efficient enough to compete. Legacy and Vintage don't want it at all. Autumnal Gloom // Ancient of the Equinox is a Commander-only card in practice, and even there it earns a slot in maybe one archetype.
