Assassin's Ink destroys any nonland permanent — creature, enchantment, artifact, planeswalker, battle — at instant speed, which is a genuinely broad effect. The catch is the cost: it needs three colors of mana, so it only belongs in a deck that can consistently produce all three pips it requires.

Assassin's Ink is a Commander card through and through — three-color pips are trivial to produce in a 99-card deck built across multiple colors, and the catch-all permanent removal hits the problem pieces that narrower spells miss. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's unplayable on rate: four mana for a removal spell in those formats demands either unconditional efficiency or a meaningful upside, and the pip requirement makes it even harder to cast consistently in two-color shells. Vintage doesn't want it either — the format answers permanents faster and cheaper. Stick to Commander, where the color fixing is free and the flexibility earns its mana cost.

Price Context
Current price
$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Assassin's Ink sits firmly in bulk territory — buy a copy without thinking twice. Bulk rare prices rarely move unless a card breaks into competitive play, and that's not happening here, so treat it as a cheap slot-filler for a three-color-plus Commander deck that needs catch-all removal.
