Arm the Cathars card art
Arm the Cathars puts +1/+1 counters on up to three creatures for two mana — immediate, permanent board impact at a price most anthems can't match. It's not a staple, but in any token or go-wide deck that can target three bodies consistently, it overdelivers for its cost.

In Commander, Arm the Cathars earns a slot in any white token or counters deck that reliably has three creatures in play by turn two or three — the instant speed matters less than the permanence of the counters compared to a temporary anthem. In Modern and Pioneer, it's too slow and too narrow; dedicated aggro runs better pump, and midrange doesn't want a spell that requires three creatures to hit full value. Legacy and Vintage have no interest at all — the card simply doesn't touch the axis those formats operate on. Arm the Cathars is a Commander-only card in practice, and even there it competes for slots only in the specific archetypes that can guarantee three targets.

At $0.09, Arm the Cathars is deep bulk — pick it out of a common box rather than buying it. That price is stable because demand is narrow, so don't expect movement in either direction.
