Argent Dais card art
Argent Dais turns every instant and sorcery into a looting effect — draw a card, discard a card — which sounds modest until you realize it stacks across a full spellslinger turn. The cost is real: five mana to land it, and it does nothing without a critical mass of noncreature spells, so slower or creature-heavy builds have no use for it.

Elesh Norn's chapter III ability exiles and replays spells from the graveyard, and Argent Dais turns every one of those replays into a loot trigger — the two cards work in a tight loop where Elesh Norn's recast engine feeds Argent Dais's filtering while the graveyard keeps refilling.

Commander is where Argent Dais earns its slot — spellslinger and reanimator builds run enough instants and sorceries to make the looting relevant, and a five-mana artifact is perfectly acceptable in a format with 40-life pacing. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; no competitive shell wants a five-mana do-nothing-immediately artifact when Treasure Cruise and Brainstorm exist. Modern is the same story — the rate simply doesn't compete. Argent Dais is a Commander card, full stop.

Price Context

Current price

$0.25 bulk tier

At $0.25, Argent Dais sits firmly in bulk territory — you're paying almost nothing for a card with real upside in the right shell. Bulk rares from recent sets rarely climb unless a commander breaks them wide open, so treat this as a cheap pickup for the decks that want it, not a spec.
