Arachnus Spinner is a Commander card through and through — the payoff scales directly with the number of Spiders in play, and tribal synergy that narrow only reaches critical mass in a 100-card singleton format with a dedicated commander. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but invisible; no competitive shell wants a six-mana do-nothing-the-turn-it-enters creature when removal is free and fast. Pioneer and Standard don't have it, which is irrelevant. Commander is the only place Arachnus Spinner earns its roster spot.
