In Commander, Apprentice Sharpshooter is a role-player in dedicated token decks — the damage trigger scales well in multiplayer because even a modest X can remove a stax piece or a mana dork across the table. In Pauper, the common slot is competitive, and a three-mana 2/2 with a conditional trigger struggles against the format's efficient threats and removal density.
