Appeal // Authority gives a creature trample and +X/+0 where X equals your team's size for one green mana — that's a lethal pump at almost any board state — then staples on a tap-your-opponents'-creatures effect for two mana on the back half. Two halves that independently close games and combo naturally make Appeal // Authority one of the most efficient split cards in green-white go-wide strategies.

In Commander, Appeal // Authority earns its slot in any green-white go-wide deck as a one-card win condition — Appeal closes games out of nowhere on a wide board, and Authority on the same turn you attack means opponents can't fog you with chump blockers. Outside Commander, the card sees essentially no competitive play in Modern, Pioneer, or Legacy, where the game is over before board states get wide enough for Appeal's pump to matter and dedicated combo or removal suites make a five-mana split card too slow. Oathbreaker can replicate the Commander shell where it shines, and that's the only other format worth seriously considering it for.
