Anthropede is a five-mana 5/4 with reach and no enters-the-battlefield effect — it trades a stat point for reach compared to a vanilla 5/5, which is already a bad deal in 2025 Magic. There is no competitive context where this is the correct card to run.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Anthropede is a bulk vanilla in every format it's legal in. Standard and Pioneer have far more efficient threats at five mana with real text attached. In Modern and Legacy, five mana buys you game-ending effects, not a 5/4 with reach. Pauper is the one format where reach occasionally matters on a body, but even there the competition at five mana is too stiff for a creature this empty. Commander is the least forgiving home of all — 100-card singleton means every slot competes against the best card for that role, and Anthropede brings nothing beyond stats.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Anthropede is deep bulk — it costs less than a sleeve. That price accurately reflects demand: there is no shell that wants Anthropede over a creature with an actual ability, so don't expect it to move.
