Anointed Peacekeeper hits the table and immediately taxes any named permanent type by two mana — stacking that on top of a Thoughtseize-style look at an opponent's hand means you're not guessing what to name. The cost is that it's a 3/3 for three with no evasion, so it dies to nearly anything, and the tax evaporates with it.

In Commander, Anointed Peacekeeper earns its slot in white-based control and stax shells — naming a commander or a key combo piece taxes it hard enough to matter, and seeing an opponent's hand first removes all the guesswork. In Modern and Pioneer, three mana is steep for a 3/3 with no immediate board impact beyond a soft lock, and both formats move fast enough that the Peacekeeper rarely survives long enough to recoup that cost. Legacy barely registers it — the format's threats are too cheap or too resilient to care about a two-mana tax. Oathbreaker has the same appeal as Commander in miniature: naming the opponent's oathbreaker signature spell can lock them out of a core line almost entirely.
