Creature — Avatar
Draft this card face up.
As you draft a card, you may remove it from the draft face up. (It isn't in your card pool.)
If you removed a creature card with flying from the draft with cards named Animus of Predation, this creature has flying. The same is true for first strike, double strike, deathtouch, haste, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, and vigilance.

Animus of Predation enters with flying, deathtouch, lifelink, trample, and vigilance — five keywords stapled to a 3/3 for four mana, no setup required. The rate is real, and any deck that wants a keyword-dense creature for synergy purposes gets all of them in one slot.

In Commander, Animus of Predation earns its slot in decks that care about keyword quantity — Kathril, Aspect Warper being the most obvious home, where each keyword it carries translates directly into counters distributed across your board. Outside of that synergy shell it's a solid if unspectacular midrange threat, and the five keywords make it a legitimate target for any aura or equipment that rewards loaded creatures. Legacy and Vintage are legal but have no interest — the raw stats don't compete, and the keyword package isn't being assembled for combo purposes in those formats. Oathbreaker gives it the same Commander-style home when Kathril is in the signature slot.

Price Context

$0.08 bulk tier
At $0.08, Animus of Predation is deep bulk — you'll find it in a commons box or pick up a playset without thinking about it. Bulk rares with narrow synergy homes don't typically appreciate, so treat it as a cheap role-player and nothing more.
