Angel of the Dawn enters, gives your whole team vigilance and lifelink until end of turn, and swings the math on a combat step in a way most five-drops don't. The problem is that five mana for a 3/3 with an enters trigger is a terrible rate everywhere except the most forgiving casual tables.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Angel of the Dawn is a pauper-playable common, and that's the format where it sees the most legitimate consideration — white weenie and lifegain shells can squeeze real value from a team-wide lifelink trigger. In Commander, it's too small and too slow; the body doesn't threaten, and the effect doesn't replace itself. Competitive and even mid-power Commander tables have moved well past a 3/3 for five with no card advantage attached. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer are non-starters — Angel of the Dawn doesn't come close to the efficiency bar those formats demand.

Price Context
Current price
$0.16 bulk tier
At $0.16, Angel of the Dawn is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and nothing else. That price is a ceiling, not a floor; demand is low enough that it won't move without a dramatic rules or metagame shift that has no plausible path.
