Angel of Grace

In Commander, Angel of Grace is a niche but real include for lifegain-matters decks and pillowfort builds that need a single card to survive one catastrophic combat step — the "set life total to 10" clause can buy an entire extra turn against an aggro player who has been chipping away all game. In Modern and Pioneer, it sees fringe play in white-based midrange as a sideboard tool against aggressive strategies, though five mana is steep enough that it rarely makes the maindeck over more efficient stabilizers. Legacy and Vintage have enough broken interaction density that Angel of Grace is simply too slow and too fair to compete. Oathbreaker, like Commander, is the card's most comfortable home — formats where games go long and a single life-floor effect can shift the board state dramatically.
