Ancestral Blade card art
Ancestral Blade enters, makes a 1/1 Soldier token, and immediately equips to a creature — all for two mana, no attach cost required. In most decks that's a fine rate; in Nahiri, Forged in Fury, where every Equipment entering the battlefield can trigger an attack bonus, it's genuinely efficient.

Nahiri, Forged in Fury cares about equipping and attacking, and Ancestral Blade delivers both a body and an equipped weapon the turn it lands — one card doing the work of two.

In Commander, Ancestral Blade earns its slot specifically in Equipment-tribal or go-wide token strategies where the free attach and the bonus body both pull weight. Outside that context, two mana for a +1/+0 sword is below rate and easy to cut. In Pauper it's legal but outclassed by more impactful commons at the same cost. Modern and Legacy have no reason to register it — the rate doesn't compete at those power levels, and Pioneer is similarly uninterested.

At $0.19, Ancestral Blade is deep bulk — pick it up without thinking twice if you need it. Bulk Equipment rarely moves, so don't expect this to appreciate.
