Amulet of Safekeeping shuts down token copies of permanents, counters spells that target you for one mana, and does both from a one-mana artifact that hits the board immediately. It's a niche piece, but in the right meta it punches well above its price.

In Commander, Amulet of Safekeeping earns its slot specifically against Populate strategies, Delina decks, and anything trying to copy your commander with Strionic Resonator or Lithoform Engine — the token-prevention clause is genuinely punishing in those matchups. The counter-target-spell ability is a nice backstop against pinpoint removal and theft spells like Treachery, though it's not a reason to run the card on its own. Outside Commander, Amulet of Safekeeping sees essentially no competitive play — Modern and Legacy have faster, more reliable interaction, and the copy-prevention clause almost never matters in those formats. It's a Commander card through and through.

Price Context
Current price
$0.28 bulk tier
At $0.28, Amulet of Safekeeping is deep bulk — you can pick up a copy without a second thought. It's not a card that appreciates, but at this price that's irrelevant; you're buying it for the effect, not the foil.
