Amulet of Kroog is a two-mana artifact that taps to gain 2 life — a negligible rate that won't stabilize a board or matter in a race. The opportunity cost is low, but so is the ceiling; there are almost no shells where this effect justifies a deck slot.

In Commander, Amulet of Kroog is functionally a draft leftover — 2 life per turn is irrelevant against the 120 total life in a four-player pod, and the slot is better spent on actual lifegain payoffs or incidental life sources that do more work. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; the card has no competitive application in either format. Pauper is the one context worth mentioning: dedicated lifegain or stall decks can technically use it, but even there it competes with Pristine Talisman, which does the same thing for one more mana while also producing colored mana.

Price data for Amulet of Kroog isn't currently available, but as a low-demand card with negligible competitive or casual appeal, copies tend to sit at bulk rates — typically a quarter or less. It's not worth hunting down unless you're completing a collection or building a highly specific lifegain theme on an extreme budget.
