Ambush Wolf enters as a 3/2 with flash and first strike until end of turn — a reasonable combat trick stapled to a body, but a 3/2 for four mana is nowhere near the rate competitive formats demand. It's a Limited card that wandered into the Constructed conversation and has no business being there.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Ambush Wolf is a bulk common in every format it's legal in, and that's the whole story. In Commander, flash lets it ambush an attacker in a pinch, but four mana for a 3/2 that loses first strike at end of turn is a trap — there are dozens of better flash bodies at this cost. In Pauper, the format where commons actually compete, a 3/2 for four with a conditional keyword doesn't clear the bar when the format's threats are faster and more efficient. Standard and Pioneer have no interest in it at any point in their respective card pools. Ambush Wolf is a fine Limited pick and nothing more.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Ambush Wolf sits firmly in bulk territory and will stay there — it sees no constructed play to create demand. Buy it only if a specific casual or budget build calls for a flash blocker and you've exhausted better options.
